Alex Nesov
Gets First European GT Podium of 2025
It was a succesful weekend at Austria for Alex Nesov and his teammate Maksim Kizilov at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The weekend started of with Kizilov qualifying on Saturday morning. It put Alex and himself on P13 on the grid in the PRO-AM class. They had to work their way up in the race, which went well. After Kizilov took the start and got up to P11 in class, Alex took the car over and managed to bring their Car Collection Motorsport Porsche back to P6 in class, and P13 overall after having a little over 40 minutes to overtake as many cars as possible. A strong outing at the Red Bull Ring given that Maksim Kizilov had only once previously raced in continental Europe and Alex Nesov, had only raced in the Porsche three races prior.
The real result came on Sunday. Alex Nesov was in charge of qualifying. He qualified P3 in class, and P7 overall beating many Pro factory drivers such as reigning DTM champion Mirko Bortolotti. In the race, Alex took the start and managed to get up to P2 in class and P4 overall until handing the car back over to his teammate Maksim. Kizilov conceeded one place but managed to bring home a fantastic P3 in the PRO-AM class, making it the first European podium of the year for both drivers.
Alex Nesov has once again shown that he is able to compete with the best drivers in GT racing regardless of which car he drives. His hard work and dedication finally gets rewarded after all the bad luck in GTWCE this season.
