Alex Nesov
Wins Season Opener at Paul Ricard
Alex Nesov delivered an outstanding performance in the opening round of the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup, securing a remarkable class victory at Circuit Paul Ricard on his debut with Pure Rxcing.
Starting from P9 in class, Nesov wasted no time making progress through the field. In a confident and controlled opening stint, he climbed up to P3, immediately showcasing both pace and racecraft in what was his first outing in Porsche machinery in this championship.
Despite dropping back to P5 during the middle phase of the race through the driver rotation, the team remained firmly in contention. As the six-hour endurance race unfolded into the night, strategy and consistency brought the car back into the fight.
A late-race safety car proved to be a turning point. With the field bunched up once again, Pure Rxcing found themselves in P2 for the final stint, with Nesov back behind the wheel.
What followed was a decisive and mature drive. In the final half hour of the race, under the challenging night conditions of Paul Ricard, Nesov made a crucial overtake for the class lead. From there, he controlled the gap to the finish, securing an impressive victory in the opening round of the championship.
What made this result even more remarkable is the fact that this marked Nesov’s first race in the Porsche within GTWC Europe, having only completed four prior races in the car across other competitions. Throughout the event, he consistently ranked among the fastest drivers on track, showing his adaptability and potential at this level.
This victory marks an amazing start to the GTWC Europe season for Pure Rxcing in Silver class, and once again Alex Nesov impresses with his performance at this level.
